Zan Zeller is a Dutch-born US artist, curator, and writer based in Houston, Texas. They have worked with acclaimed photography galleries, including AIPAD members Catherine Couturier Gallery (est. 1996, Houston, TX) and Koslov Larsen, where they spent 6 years leading the program as Assistant Director. Zan’s curatorial work centers on exploring intersectional spaces between media and providing platforms for queer and marginalized artists. They have served as a juror for Photolucida’s Critical Mass and other photography awards. In 2023, Zan shifted focus from photographic work and into the sculptural realm. Their most recent body of work uses collage, sculpture, and handcrafted metalwork to recontextualize Medieval mythologies and characters through a modern lens, highlighting alternate histories and forgotten stories.

Zan received a BA in Art History and Visual & Dramatic Arts with a concentration in Film/Photography from Rice University. They were selected as one of the inaugural recipients of the Joan Hohlt and Roger Wich Emerging Photographer Scholarship at the Houston Center for Photography from 2019-2020. Zan has exhibited photographic and sculptural work throughout the US and internationally.
